古人云:“以铜为鉴可以正衣冠,以人为鉴可以明得失,以史为鉴可以知兴替。”如今,钱塘江大桥、茅以升先生以及那段可歌可泣的建桥史,像一面面历史的明镜见证过去,也激励着一代代架桥人。追忆历史,1934年11月11日,钱塘江大桥举行了开工典礼,翌年1月正式动工,1937年9月26日建成通车。钱塘江大桥的建成,不仅打破了外国桥梁专家所谓的“在钱塘江上架桥的中国工程师还没有出生”的妄言,同时也结束了中国人无法建造铁路公路特大桥的屈辱史。
