人的发展包含作为个体的人的发展和作为类的人的发展两个层次。但不管哪一种人的发展都离不开人类社会的发展。人类社会的发展是人的发展的历史前提 ,人类社会的发展过程就是人的发展的社会背景 ,在目前和今后 ,人的发展离不开全球必然实现共产主义这个背景。作为个体的人的发展 ,包括人的身体的发展 (可分为发育成长、成熟、衰老三个阶段 )、人的实践活动的发展 (其核心即实践能力 ,是一个由价值标准、指导思想和操作能力等要素构成的综合概念 )和人的精神活动的发展 (最主要的是认识活动和评价活动两种 )三个方面 ;作为类的人的发展 ,同样也包括作为类的人的身体的发展 (大致经历了猿、猿人、智人、现代人四个阶段 )、作为类的人的实践的发展 (其中最主要的是改造社会的实践 ,即人的交往实践 )和作为类的人的主观世界的发展 (主要的也是认识活动和评价活动 )。作为个体的人的发展和作为类的人的发展 ,同人类社会的发展一样 ,都是一个从简单到复杂、从低级到高级的发展过程。
