Chromosomal chimera, which is restricted to the placenta, is always observed in chromosomal analysis of CVS. This led us to notice whether placental chromosomal association causes slow fetal development. In a retrospective survey, Kalousek and Dill found 9 children with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) and two had placental chimerism. There are no reasons to explain these two cases of IUGR. Therefore, the authors propose that IUGR is a clinical manifestation of placental dysfunction caused by chromosomal aberrations. we
