The present invention provides a light-receiving device comprising an absorber layer. The absorber layer is made of a semiconductor material that generates a charge based on incident light. There are many light detection zones within the absorber layer, each light detection zone being capable of generating an electrical signal based on the incident light signal. There is a depletion zone between adjacent light detection zones which is used to collect the charge generated by the absorber layer portion between adjacent light detection zones. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a light-receiving device having a structure that is easy to fabricate with a semiconductor material to prevent crosstalk between adjacent light-detecting regions.
