In the besieged society from the 1920s to the 1930s, Shen Congwen moved from Beijing to the concession in Shanghai, sowing deep sarcasm on society in the unique and unique “Alice in China Travels”. The book borrows from the British writer Luis Carlo published in 1865, “Alice in Wonderland,” the external structure of the original children’s writing method into a realistic satirical novel. This book tells the story of 12-year-old British girl Alice and 45-year-old rabbit gentleman go to China to explore “Chinese taste ”: first in Shanghai, China, then to rural southern China, and even into the Miao Residential area, experiencing all kinds of absurd, ridiculous story. Their realities gradually deconstruct their imagination of China. The readers, through Shen Congwen’s writing, revisit China in the new and old transitional period and explore the solution of “saving” the country from the social reality and cultural thinking.
