中学数学教材,一向着重两个方面、即一方面为高一级(即高等院校)学习打下基础,另一方面是提高学生科学文化知识水平,以便为将来参加生产、工作得到应具备的基础知识,随着近年来逐步增加中等专业学校或职业学校以后,中数教材前一方面的目的(即升学)更加显著现行全日制教材,已明显的注意到这点,例如增加了微积分初步,使学生升入高校物理系能一开始便掌握微积分的初步应用,对物理系的教学大有必要,又如初中增加了部分分式的基础知识。(虽然还不够)对下一步学习不定积分提供了一些基础。 本文着重从一个问题,说明现行教材对上述的目的考虑仍然有不够的地方,也就是说为升学打基础仍有须加强的地方,特别是当前中小学已经恢复十二年制,时间长些,应该学得更扎实,数学的基本功即基础知识和理论,应该更学得好些。这里只提出实系数二次三项式符号的问题,补充现行中学教材的不足,提供中学数学教学参考。
