Liu An was the Lord of Huainan in the Han Dynasty. It was said that he seldom did something reasonable; instead, he spent his life looking for drugs and recipes which can help him reach immortality.
He sent his men to look for immortals and finally found one who gave him a recipe of im- mortal pills. After that, he locked himself in a dark room and completely committed to making pills. Days later, he got ten pills and immediately swallowed five of them. Before he could take the other five, he ascended into the heaven and became an immortal. The rest pills were taken by his dogs and chickens which also became immortal as well.
