在中国近代工商业发展史上,盛宣怀占有极其重要的位置。他是上海交通大学、天津大学以及张裕葡萄酒公司的创办者,中国近代的轮船、矿山,电报、铁路、纺织等产业的建立和发展,无一不是在他的直接控制或参与下完成的。这也导致了他与当时另一位中国工商巨头、“红顶商人”胡雪岩不断地斗权、斗智、斗法,胡雪岩最终一气而亡。
In the modern history of China’s industrial and commercial development, Sheng Xuanhuai occupies an extremely important position. He is the founder of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tianjin University and Changyu Wine Company.
