Objective: To observe the effect of edaravone on neuropathic pain induced by L5 spinal nerve ligation in rats and its therapeutic effect. Methods: Thirty male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups (n = 10): sham operation + edaravone group (Ⅰ group), operation group + saline control group (Ⅱ group), operation group + In the experimental group (group Ⅲ), all the rats were killed on the day before surgery and on the 0,1,2,3,5,7 day after the operation, and von Frey filament method was used to measure the threshold of mechanical evacuation . Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in preoperative withdrawal threshold (16.7 ± 0.5), (16.2 ± 0.7) and (16.9 ± 0.4) g, respectively. There was no significant difference in the reflex threshold before and after operation in group Ⅰ. The mechanical hyperalgesia occurred in the posterior hind leg in group Ⅱ, which was most obvious on the first day and continued until the seventh Day; the mechanical pain sensitivity in group Ⅲ was significantly lower than that in group Ⅱ (P <0.05), and neuropathic pain was significantly reduced. Conclusion: Edaravone can relieve neuropathic pain induced by ligation of L spinal nerves.
