As we all know, children with congenital cleft palate, both in preoperative or postoperative surgery, susceptible to pneumonia, tonsillitis, acute respiratory diseases and rhinitis. The authors believe that the reason is not only due to the anatomy and function of the cleft palate caused by obstacles, but also because of these children’s immune system defects. In this paper, we study the cellular immunity, humoral immunity, complement and salivary Ig in children with congenital cleft palate. Totally 40 children with congenital cleft palate were examined, and 80 healthy children aged 5 to 7 years were examined as controls. The results showed that the absolute number of white blood cells, T cells, activated T cells and B cells before surgery in children with congenital cleft palate decreased, suggesting a deficit in cellular immune function with a combination of immunodeficiency (simultaneous reduction of T and B cells)
