东北老工业区为新中国的经济建设奉献了巨大的力量,给我国的经济发展做出了巨大的贡献,为我国直至今天的发展立下了汗马功劳,是新中国成立的奠基石。但由于后期我国经济,产业结构的调整,传统工业逐渐衰退,科技的发达,数控技术的加入更新换代,城市面临转型,从单一的工业城市逐渐向功能型城市转变,经济发展方式的多元化,工业不在成为东北地区主要经济发展的中心,在全中国经济科学进步与改革的背景下,东北老工业区的经济日渐衰弱,而在城市经济结构调整的同时,在城市中遗留了大量的工业废弃地和废旧的工业建筑。为保护东北老工业区的工业建筑遗址和城市工业文化的传承,针对工业城市当中遗留下来的工业建筑文化遗址对其的保护与传承成为工业城市日渐重视和棘手的问题,对其的改造设计也成为值得我们研究和探讨的课题。
