This article discusses the survival of different types of pleural metastases, the efficacy of talc pleurodesis and its correlation with pleural pH and glucose levels. Subjects and Methods thoracoscopic confirmed pleural metastases from 1982 to 1990 in 125 cases. There were 11 cases of epidermoid carcinoma of the lung, 24 cases of adenocarcinoma, 3 cases of large cell carcinoma, 2 cases of giant cell carcinoma, 8 cases of small cell carcinoma, 30 cases of breast carcinoma, 11 cases of gastrointestinal carcinoma, 8 cases of ovarian carcinoma, and 6 cases of renal carcinoma. 3 cases of uterine cancer, 1 case of thyroid cancer, 18 cases of unknown primary site.
