Some games originating from Shandong and prospering in Shandong are the typical “made-in-Shandong games.” For example, according to authoritative his- torical record, the birthplace of “Cu Ju” (present- day football) originated from Linzi, Shandong. Another example is “Kong Fu” (martial art) . Although it doesn’t only belong to Shandong, Shandong is one of the birthplaces of Chinese “Kong Fu” with its own characteristics. “Gou Ji, ” which originated from Licang district, Qingdao, is also a local sport in Shandong. In different ages, the “made-in-Shandong” games have different traces of development. Football, popular in ancient China, which has gone abroad and prospered in Europe and South America, has been neglected in China and Shandong for a long time. On the contrary, “Kong Fu” as the “quintessence of Chinese culture” and “quintessence of Shandong culture” has always been popular and successful in Shandong. “Gou Ji” originating from Shandong spreads all over China.
