1891 is the 50th anniversary of Hong Kong’s occupation by the British (the British call it the “opening”). The then Governor submits a report to the British Colonial Department, recommending the issuance of a set of stamps for commemoration. However, due to too hasty time, the final solution could only be in the form of a caption. This is the stamp of the 50th anniversary of the opening of January 22 issue of the year, a complete set of 1, issued in 1883, the par value of the first 2 (ie 2 points) Queen Victoria Portrait of Magenta Pratt & Whitney (with crown and CA watermark ), Stamped with the words “1841 Hong Kong JUBILEE 1891” (Figure 1). This is the first commemorative stamp issued in Hong Kong. It is also the first memorial stamp to be issued in the form of a stamp and is one of Hong Kong’s rare stamps. The second set of commemorative stamps in Hong Kong did not appear until 1935 after 44 years, which is simply inconceivable now.
