The University of Queensland Genome Sequencing Project addresses the prospect of a $ 10 million annual root rot loss in Australia. The program uses new technologies to track not only avian diseases, such as root rot, but also research and development of avocado. Alice Hayward, Ph.D., a researcher from the University of Queensland’s Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation, will use new techniques to rank avocado genes.
