Beginning to intervene In the 1980s, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences organized experts to conduct a large-scale inspection of the Grand Canal in Sui and Tang Dynasties and formed a survey report on the remains along the Grand Canal. The study made a new understanding of the Grand Canal in Sui and Tang Dynasties and was a very important achievement in the 1980s. Scholars from the Chinese Cultural Heritage Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as “Wenyuan Institute”) also participated in the study. At the beginning of the 21st century, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project carried out by the State involves the Grand Canal along its east and mid-lines, and the Grand Canal along the Grand Canal since the Yuan Dynasty. The middle line is related to the Grand Canal of Sui and Tang Dynasties. In 2003, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the Ministry of Water Resources jointly sent water conservancy offices (bureaus) to Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Shandong and Jiangsu,
