The $11 million AUD collection required for the Australian Intec copper project has been completed, and the work of its 1t/d semi-industrial pilot plant is in progress. The Australian government is the main moderator of the project, and the required A$6.38 million in funding comes from the government’s R&D (Research and Development) start-up program. The remaining A$4.62 million came from a consortium of Intec copper shareholders. The copper plant will be built in South Sydney and completed in 1998. It will produce light metal grade A copper at a production rate 20 times that of the original production plant. The original production plant was operated for 290 days and the copper recovery rate from various chalcopyrite concentrates
