明星说英文，早就不是什么稀奇事儿了。因为讲英文而雷倒众人的明星也不在少数，当然，因为他们的母语都非英语，以此来评论他们也有失公允。不过有这样一些明星，他们不仅有帅气美丽的外表，而且还能说地道流利的英语，原因是什么呢？只因为他们是混血儿。

★ 吴彦祖（英文名Daniel） 中美混血，祖籍上海，生于旧金山，长于加州，毕业于美国俄勒冈大学建筑学系。1997年，吴彦祖前往香港，开始他的电影以及模特生涯。吴彦祖在2004年的金马奖颁奖典礼上，以在《新警察故事》中的出色表演赢得了最佳男配角奖，之后又凭《四大天王》一片，于第26届香港电影金像奖中夺得新晋导演奖。
◇ His Opinions on Journey
Daniel: One place I go often now is South Africa. And I’m not talking about 1)Johannesburg or 2)Cape Town I live…I stay in a place that’s a farm country. Big, big open land. Big, big open skies. And the place I stay is a traditional African hut. Inside is very comfortable, but no electricity. So the challenge there is to trying [sic] to learn how to live without the creature comforts that you’re used to, like a computer, like a TV, like your cell phone. And it’s really good for me because, especially my lifestyle here in Hong Kong can be very spoiled sometimes, you know. Everybody wants to give you the greatest things, the best things—you always have the best things. But, can you live as a basic human being? Can you live without all that 3)stuff? And I think these kind of things push me or challenge me to expand my 4)horizons. You know, because the problem with being in the same place, always the same time, is that your world becomes smaller, right? But what I do is, as soon as I’m finished working on a movie or when I have time to relax or travel, I’ll go away and travel and try to go to someplace new or someplace different, and try to experience something that I will never experience in my home, you know. And I think that’s the main reason why I do it is to…to really push my mind, to really try and challenge myself to see the world in a different way.
◇ His Opinions on Acting
Daniel: But really what it is is to just broaden your horizons and to look at the world in a more wider [sic] perspective. And I think acting gives me the opportunity to explore that much more. But what I really need to do when I’m not acting is to go out in the world and absorb all that information. And then I keep them in my mind, in my library for when I can use them again when I’m acting. I think in my field, in my business, you come across barriers and challenges every day, and to be able to have the peace of mind to calmly look at the whole situation and learn how to make decisions off that is the most important. I think nowadays it’s very hard for people to be in the moment. You’re always thinking about what I got to do next, what happened yesterday, when I’m doing this. But what’s happening right now in front of you? Are you enjoying that moment in front of you? That’s the most important. And that’s what we try to do in acting.
◇ His Opinions on Life
Daniel: And it’s not necessarily about going to a certain place or arriving at a certain goal in life. But the important thing is about what you learn along the way in that journey. And to always keep your mind open about what you see before you get to the destination. Because your destination may not be important, it’s about what...that... experiences along the way and how that enriches you as a human being. So whether it is traveling or whether it is your life in general, to always remember to—this is quote 5)unquote—“smell the roses”. You know, to appreciate what is happening around you and not be focused on just the end or just the goal. Life will make its turns and you just have to learn how to 6)go with the flow and learn how to be ready for that, for every moment that changes in front of you, you know.

吴彦祖：我现在常去的一个地方就是南非。我不是在说我住的约翰内斯堡或者开普敦。我暂住的地方是一个农村。（那里有）很大很宽广的土地，很大很辽阔的天空。而且我住的地方是个传统的非洲棚屋，里面很舒服，但是没有电。所以我在那里面临的挑战是在没有了习以为常的物质享受的条件下，学会如何生存。比如电脑，比如电视机，比如你的手机。而且这对我来说真的很重要，因为你知道，特别是对我这种人来说，在香港的生活方式有时是被过分照顾的。每个人都想给你最好的东西, 你也总是得到最好的东西。但是，你能按照最基本的生存方式去生活吗？没有那些物质你能生活吗？我觉得这类事情迫使着我或者说给了我挑战，让我去扩大自己的视野。因为如果一个时期总是待在一个地方，你的世界会慢慢变小，是吧？不过我的做法就是一旦我拍完一部电影或者我有时间去放松、旅游的时候，我就会出去旅游，尽量到一些陌生的不同的地方，去体验我在家从未体验过的生活。我想这就是我这么做的主要原因，真正地推动我的想法，挑战自己用一种不同的方式认识世界。
◆ 他谈表演
吴彦祖：但是真正的（表演）是什么，就是扩大你的眼界，以一种更开放的观点去看世界。我认为表演给了我去做此深入探索的机会。但是我真正需要做的是当我不拍戏时，走出世界去吸收所有的信息。然后我将它们保存在脑海中，存在我的知识库里，这样我表演时就可以再使用它们。我想，在我的领域，我的事业里，每天都会遇到很多障碍和挑战，而能够以平和心态来平静地纵观全局，并学会怎样脱离它去作决定是最重要的。现今，我想对人们来说很难的一件事就是活在当下。你总是在想着我下一步要怎么做，昨天发生了些什么，我何时要这么做。但是此时就在你眼前发生的事情是什么？你是否享受此刻的愉悦？这是最重要的，而这也是我在表演中努力做的。
◆ 他谈生活
吴彦祖：在生活中，不必要说去某个地方或者到达生命中的某个目标，重要的是你在过程中学到了什么。在你到达目的地之前常常保持用开阔的思维去看待你的所见，因为或许，你的目的地并不重要，重要的是沿途那些体验，和它们如何丰富了你的人生。所以无论是旅游，也无论是你的普通生活，都要常常记得——这是引用的结束
语——“享受生活”。对发生在你周围的事情充满感激，不要只关注最终结果或者目标什么的。生活会出现转机，你只需要学会怎样顺其自然，并学会为眼前每一个可以改变的时刻作好准备。

★ 李美琪（英文名Maggie Q）美越混血，在夏威夷中学毕业后到香港发展，有数年的模特生涯。曾参与的《碟中谍3》、《虎胆龙威4》等大片都让她“东方打女”的形象深入人心。2010年，她领衔主演的由美国CW电视台推出的电视系列剧《尼基塔》(Nikita)深受好评，其演技也备受赞誉。其参与主演的由漫画改编奇幻动作片《圣徒》也于今年5月上映。
Interviewer: So, we’re here to talk about Priest. Tell me a little bit of the character you play in the film.
Maggie Q: I play ‘Priestess’, the…the only female priest in the film. My character, Paul—Paul Bettany’s character—and Karl Urban; we were all, at one point, found by the church, and we were children born with 7)heightened abilities—this is how we put it—and…and trained to be the protectors of the church and of the cities, and…and we were for many years, and, when that went away, we all kind of fell into a very, very sort of dark place, and now that threat is back, but we’re all in different places, and it’s how we come together again, as different 8)entities with different 9)demons and how we deal with that. Yeah. That’s one take on it.
Interviewer: That’s your take.
Maggie Q: That’s my take on it, yeah.
Interviewer: (laughs) So, you’re no stranger to
ass-kicking…
Maggie Q: No.
Interviewer: …so…
Maggie Q: No.
Interviewer: …how does the action in this film compare to other action films you’ve done?
Maggie Q: You know, what’s interesting, what’s cool, is that everything that we have in the film, in terms of weapons, motorcycles, are all original. I mean they literally built all these things from the ground up and designed them from the ground up, so, and all our abilities are just slightly different. We’re certainly…we’re not superheroes whatsoever, but, like I said, we have a heightened, you know, ability. And so, because of our very specific sort of skills and our different weapons, you’re gonna see action you’ve not…you’ve not seen. I do something with my weapon in this film that is so unacceptably disgusting …
Interviewer: (laughs)
Maggie Q: (laughs)…that you’re gonna have this 10)gamut of emotions. You’re gonna go: “Aah! Oh? Oooh…amaz…”
Interviewer: (laughs)
Maggie Q: …‘cause that’s what I did. I…I mean, it’s unbelievable. You’re gonna scream like a schoolgirl.
Interviewer: So what kind of training then did you have to do to…
Maggie Q: You know, I did a lot…I did a lot of boxing. Because 11)choreography’s all about knowing your timing and knowing your place and being able to move well. So, I did a bunch of boxing and 12)conditioning for a couple of weeks, and then I got straight into specific rope stuff, and knife stuff.

李美琪：我扮演的是“女圣徒”，电影里唯一的一名女祭司。我的角色、保
罗——保罗·贝坦尼的角色，还有卡尔厄本（的角色）；有一点就是，在影片中，我们的角色都被教会发现，而且我们是天生具有超能力的孩子，这就是为何我们被训练成了教会以及城市的保护者。而且，多年后，当组织解散时，我们都感觉到了一种黑暗力量。那种威胁再次来临了，但是我们都身处不同的地方。（因为要抗击这种威胁）所以我们再度聚首了，因为要对抗隐藏在不同躯体中的种种恶魔，然后讲我们如何对付他们。是的，这就是电影所讲的部分内容。
采访者: 是你呈现的角色。
李美琪：是的，我的角色.
采访者: (笑) 所以你们对马屁精并不陌生。
李美琪：不陌生。
采访者: 那么……
李美琪：不陌生啊。
采访者: 和之前你演过的动作片相比，这部电影的动作如何?
李美琪：你知道，有趣的、酷的，我们电影里的所有元素都可以这么说。讲到武器、摩托车，都是原装。我指的是它们确确实实地就地设计并建造了这一切东西。所以，我们每个人的才能也只是略有差别。我们当然……不管怎么说，我们不是超级英雄，但是，像我说的，你知道，我们有超能力。所以，由于我们特有的技能和我们不同的武器，你会看到你从没有见过的动作。在这部电影里我用我的武器做了一些简直无法忍受的恶心事儿……
采访者: (笑)
李美琪：(笑)……你将看到所有这些情绪表现。你会说:“啊！呜？呜……太神奇了……”
