对于在2020年会有多少设备连接到互联网的预测,ABI研究报告和思科系统分别给出了300亿台和500亿台两个数据。没有人真正了解这一数字会是多少,但据推崇者们的说法,物联网将会是一个非常庞大的东西。“我相信,在未来10年中,物联网将会是IT界最大的一个升级点,单它一个就可以有14兆美元盈利。”思科CEOJohnChambers在五月AllThingsDD11峰会上发言提到。与之相比,欧盟官方数据显示,2011年欧元17成员国GDP总和才9.42兆欧元(12.226兆美元)。
