Molybdenum is a plant, animal growth and development of essential micronutrients. Insufficient or excessive amounts of molybdenum in the soil will obstruct the normal development of the plant and reduce the yield and quality of the crop, and at the same time it will cause certain special diseases in humans and animals. From 1979 to 1980, we studied the content, distribution and availability of molybdenum in the soils of Shanghai suburbs as follows. First, the total amount of molybdenum and distribution of Shanghai’s main soil types are brucite (marsh type), sand clip, yellow mud and ditch dry mud (meadow type) and coastal saline soil. The total amount of soil molybdenum in Table 1. From the soil analysis results, the suburbs soil molybdenum content is generally low.
