In 1968, when Bob Beamon broke the world long jump record at Mexico’s Olympic Games at a distance of 29.25 “(a result almost two feet farther than previously recorded), Carl Lewis was seven years old year old. At that time, this result was considered to have reached the limit of human physical strength, and no such situation would ever happen again. Fifteen years have passed, and after three Olympic Games, the world record remains, and Beaumont has become a journalist who needs to set aside the record for breaking the record. After that jump, Beamon’s image appeared in stamps and in newspapers throughout the world. However, the 22-year-old athlete has not been so popular in his own country. Some reporters used the height of 7347 feet above sea level to dilute the atmosphere and put his mark on ”luck". Beamon then jumped 29 feet, and even 27 feet can not jump past, so quickly eclipsed.
