Maupassant was the most famous short and mid-term novelist and critical realism writer in France in the late 19th century. His short story “Necklace”, published in 1884, is one of his many famous titles. “Necklace” was originally titled “Jewelry.” It tells a story that is laughable and sympathetic: Matilde, the wife of the clerk, lost his borrowed necklace to attend a dance. In order to lose his necklace, he spent arduous hard work for ten years. Finally, it was found that the necklace borrowed was fake.
