在当今众多盆景艺术家中,年已九旬的徐晓白教授,是众口皆碑、德高望重的老前辈。徐老1909年生于江苏南通一个书香门第,早年求学于南通农学院,后留校任教。解放后即到苏北农学院(今扬州大学农学院)担任教学。多年来苦读经典,广收精采,勤于实践,不仅在专业上造诣精深,更在盆景理论研究上独树一帜。他经过研究考证大量史料,提出盆景“滥觞于汉晋,形成于唐代,发展于宋元,兴盛于明清,近代一度衰败,今又复兴”的观点,得到同行们的一致认同,奠定了盆景源于中国的基础理论。
