1949年春,周恩来代表党中央在北京饭店举行盛大宴会,庆祝北平和平解放。灯火辉煌,著名人士齐集一堂。欢宴开始后,周恩来似有发现,遂穿过人群,径直走到北平著名校长、艺专画家徐悲鸿面前: “悲鸿同志,我们又见面了！” 周恩来紧紧地握住画家也很激动的手。 宴会结束时,画家收到一张便笺:“悲鸿同志,请稍留步。周恩来。”宴罢,周恩来与画家单独倾谈了很长时间,似有多少年的话今天才得以说尽。
