裂隙粘土在我国分布很广,它除具有一般粘土的共性外,还具有吸水膨胀、失水收缩和反复胀缩变形的特点,遇水易崩解软化,抗冲刷性能差。土体高峰强度大,而剩余强度极小,强度衰减较明显。在这种地区修建铁路,会导致边坡不稳、沿裂隙溜坍、滑动和基床软化产生翻浆冒泥、道碴陷槽、路堤下沉等病害。1978年9月15~23日在焦枝线荆门召开了《全路裂隙粘土经验交流会》,会议主要介绍了焦枝、汉丹、襄渝、阳安四条铁路线施工运营中遇到的裂隙粘土问题以及采取的工程措施。这一篇是武汉铁路局在会上介绍的经验之一,现摘要刊出供读者参考。
