以往的学术史一再表明:学术研究的基本功能在于通过科学的研究成果,为现实的社会实践提供直接或间接的服务。现在,社会科学界有一种看法,认为市场经济体制的逐步建立,使社会价值趋向功利化,社会科学的研究一般难以产生直接的社会效益,因而,在当今社会必然会受到冷落。这种观点自有其一定的道理,但并不完全,而且比较肤浅。应该注意到,造成这种局面的原因是多方面的,但社会科学研究有时不能与社会现实密切结合,对现实社会提出的迫切需要回答的各种问题不能作出及时、足够的反应,有时甚至只是在现实的政策后面作些诠释和评论的工作,却是重要的原因之一。对此,学术界绝大部分同仁已经形成共识,即社会科学只有关注社会现实,关心国家前途、民族命运和人民福利,以积极进取的姿态参与社会实践,从各种纷繁复杂的社会现象中抽象出带规律性的东西,并以充分具备超前意识的理论成果和成熟的对策研究指导实际工作,解决实际问题,尤其是重大的社会现实问题,才能使自身得到发展,才能赢得社会的重视并发挥应有的作用。
