美国研究表明,心脏病不再是一个年龄问题,40%的青少年至少有一种心脏病的危险因素,如吸烟、体重过重、高血压及高胆固醇等。以下是防止心脏病早期发作的最有效办法:①停止吸烟。②保持低血压。若把每个美国人食用的1/3英两食盐量减少一半,不用药物就可维持较低的血压。③使身体不要太胖。身体过重使发生高血压的机会增加一倍。④低脂肪饮食。聚不饱和脂肪刺激高密度脂蛋白的产生,可预防心脏病,象玉米、大豆及向日葵籽等含有高密度脂蛋白。
