Although much progress has been made in our understanding of cardiovascular disease (CHD), it remains one of the major causes of death in humans. One of the most obvious risk factors for cardiovascular disease is high cholesterol. More interestingly, high values of LDL or “bad” cholesterol and triglyceride levels increase the risk of heart disease, and high-density lipoproteins (HDL, or “good” cholesterol) prevent heart disease. “Typical” adults have dangerous high total cholesterol values, high LDL values, high triglyceride values and low HDL values, as expected from the myriad of deaths due to cardiovascular disease. These people can change their dangerous cholesterol values in a variety of ways. By exercise, eat low fat and high fiber foods, you can eat more vitamins
