In recent years, with the encouragement of the United States, Japan has become a country in the world with undeniable military power through years of hard work. As the global strategy of the Bush administration in the United States unfolds, Japan will take the opportunity to accelerate its move toward a military power. In recent years, Japan has spent over 50 billion U.S. dollars on military expenditures, becoming the second largest superpower in military expenditures after the United States. Japan’s military expansion goal is to build the SDF into a modern army that is “reasonable, efficient and capable.” In recent years, Japan has made strategic adjustments to its military deployment, shifting its main force from the north to the west and targeting China and North Korea. Japan will continue to vigorously develop advanced weaponry that is technologically oriented, oversized and ocean-going, and will focus on strengthening its naval and air force weapons and equipment so as to further expand its defense capabilities from “defensive” to “offensive” "change.
