Enterprises should be bigger and stronger, there are two strategic options: First, specialization, and second, diversification. Choice of diversity is generally based on two considerations: First, open up new economic growth point; the second is to avoid and diversify the core business risks. China’s large iron and steel enterprises have long relied on the main steel industry and formed a number of diversified industries that are related to the steel industry, including coal chemical industry, machinery manufacturing, engineering construction, refractory materials, metal structure, automation control and software development, transportation and so on. However, these diversified industries basically only stay in the service of obeying or serving the development of the steel industry. They are either bigger, stronger or more diversified.
