Ephedra is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. It was first published in the “Shen Nong’s Materia Medica.” It has the effect of “publishing sweat, removing evil heat, relieving cough and reversing upper air, and removing cold and heat.” The processing method of ephedra is mainly candied fruit. According to the literature, after the ephedra preserve, its volatile oil content is reduced by one half, and ephedrine is reduced by a small amount. In order to further investigate the effects of different processing of ephedra (Ephedra, Ephedrae, and Ephedrae) on clinical efficacy, this article is based on the total alkaloids of Ephedra.
