玉米,作为世界上首屈一指的饲料作物和粮食,学名叫做Zea mays L,英文名是corn。无疑,美洲大陆是玉米的起源地,达尔文和第康道尔都持一致观点,那就是玉米起源于美洲的墨西哥和洪都拉斯等地,并且直到现在,考古学家在美洲大陆的古墓中发现了许多史前玉米的化石。当今,玉米是主要的粮食作物,也是主要的原材料,其与人类的生活有着密切的联系。因此,文章将从玉米的起源、玉米的特点、玉米生物学和玉米遗传学这四个方向来研究,使人们对玉米有更深入的了解。
