The law of the city magistrates occupies an important place in the legal history of the Byzantine Empire. This law is mainly used to regulate the industries of gold and silver jewelry, silk and spices in Constantinople. The Swiss scholar Jules Nikole first discovered this legal manual in the Swiss Library. After finishing and editing his works, he published Greek and Latin collations and French translations in 1893, which are currently recognized by the Byzantine research academic community abroad Authoritative version. Based on the Greek collation of Jules Nikol and the translation of the English version of Freschfield’s Town Clerk Law, this article aims to provide a more complete Chinese translation of the original text.
