乙氨嘧啶的化学名叫2,4-二氨基-对氯苯基-6-乙基嘧啶,我国商品名叫息瘧定。根据近年来的研究,认为乙氨嘧啶要在瘧原虫的核分裂以前才能起作用,因而其奏效速度不如氯喹啉、阿的平和奎宁的迅速,所以不宜于用来治疗瘧疾现症病人。但乙氨嘧啶在体内的排泄较慢,服一次药后,能维持血中有效浓度达14天,对恶性瘧有病因性预防和抑制性治愈的作用;同时又能抑制瘧原虫配子体在按蚊体内发育成子孢子,使按蚊失去传瘧作用,所以乙氨嘧啶在瘧疾的化学预防方面有它特殊的份值。加以服用量少、价格低廉、又无苦味,在服药过程中较易为群众所接受,因而近年来乙氨嘧啶已在我国广泛应用。在应用中积累了不少经验,也出现了一些问题。为了对乙氨嘧啶有一个较全面的了解,现就乙氨嘧啶的作用机制、治疗作用、毒性、药理以及在现场使用中存在的问题,
