Objective To analyze the occupational health damage of radiation workers in Shenzhen and provide the basis for evaluating radiation health protection. Methods Totally 825 radiation workers who underwent radiological health monitoring in the city from 2008 to 2011 were tested for chromosomal aberrations of peripheral blood lymphocytes. To compare the types of chromosomal aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes around radiographers of different years, ages, genders and types of workers. Results The chromosome aberration rates of radiographers from 2008 to 2011 were respectively compared with those of the control group (P <0.05). The chromosome aberration rate was from high to low in different years 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2010; There was no significant difference between men and women (P> 0.05). The working age group with different radiation exposure increased with the increase of seniority, and the working age of staff> 30 years old was significantly higher than that of <10,10-19 and 20-29 years , The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The detection rate of chromosome aberration in industrial radiography workers was higher than that in medical radiology group, and both of them were higher than that of control group (P <0.05). There were no aberrant cells (fragments, microsomes, Centromere ring) is higher than the incidence of dicentric (dic) and circular chromosome (r). Conclusion Long-term occupational exposure to low-dose ionizing radiation can increase the chromosome aberration rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes in radiation workers. Radiation workers should be strengthened to reduce the damage effect of ionizing radiation.
