《茶经》是中国茶典籍的代表作,蕴含于其中的中庸思想乃是儒家思想的核心,对中国茶文化有深刻影响。《茶经》的英译对传播和弘扬茶文化意义重大。本文运用文本分析法对《茶经》英译本所采取的翻译策略进行分析,发现《茶经》作为信息类文本,其语际互文转换多采用交际翻译策略;而涉及到文化因素的译介时,则语义翻译策略更可取。这进一步证实了纽马克“没有任何一篇文本翻译是纯粹的交际翻译或语义翻译,二者互为补充”的论断。也只有这样才能更好地传播茶文化典籍里的“中庸之道”思想。
The Book of Tea is the masterpiece of Chinese tea books. The golden mean contained in it is the core of Confucianism and has profound influence on Chinese tea culture. The English translation of The Book of Tea is of great significance in spreading and promoting tea culture. This article uses the method of text analysis to analyze the translation strategies taken by the English version of The Book of Tea and finds that the tea scriptures as information texts use the communicative translation strategy more often than not; When the semantic translation strategy is preferable. This further confirms the Newmark’s assertion that “no single textual translation is purely communicative or semantic translation, and the two complement each other.” The only way to better disseminate the “Golden Mean ” thought in the tea culture books.
