汉末魏初,儒学德性我式微,才性说盛行,《人物志》集其大成。具有一定个体独立性和自由精神的才性我存在三个面向:轻视儒家规范而仍以道德为终极关怀,但新道德并不明确,是不清晰的德性我;重视直觉洞鉴的智悟,但程序性逻辑推理阙如,是不彻底的认知我;将个体生命看作艺术的审美存在,但欠缺退而瞻远的超越意识,是不健全的情意我。材质自然主义凸显才性说之自我又使之不完满,魏晋个体之种种自主性据此伸展。
