Researchers at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the Center for Applied Energy Research at the University of Kentucky announced on June 27, 2009 that they are accelerating the use of traditional Fischer-Tropsch cobalt catalysts to produce higher carbon hydrocarbons from CO 2 For use in the production of valuable hydrocarbon materials. Studies have shown that CO 2 can be mainly converted into methane, and some other hydrocarbons.
