Objective To investigate the attention characteristics of college students with different coping tendencies in positive and negative emotional states, and to provide new ideas for mental health education and counseling workers to guide individuals to improve coping tendencies. Methods Eighty-six subjects in a normal university in Hubei Province were divided into two groups: positive coping group (37) and negative coping group (49), and the subjects were randomly divided into positive and negative emotions group Point detection paradigm to get its attention bias. Results There were 61 effective participants in the study. Positive attention bias (19.44 ± 25.91) in the positive emotion group was higher than negative (2.26 ± 25.27) in the positive emotion group (F = 5.70, P <0.05 ). Negative coping tendency subjects’ attentional bias scores (9.96 ± 24.67) and negative images (7.88 ± 25.12) (F = 4.53, P <0.05) were significantly lower in negative emotions.
