With the deepening of global economic integration, international direct investment has become the main content of economic activities and links between countries. From the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century, the development of economic globalization made the speed and degree of liberalization of foreign direct investment greatly increased. In particular, the growth rate of developing countries in attracting FDI was accelerating. As a developing country with rapid economic development, after more than 30 years of reform and opening up, our own economy has become integrated with and dependent on the world economy. In the face of the inevitable trend of globalization, how to deal with it aggressively and seize such historic opportunities has become an empirical proposition that our government and enterprises have to think about. To this end, the Chinese government clearly proposed the implementation of the “going out” strategy in 1998 and regarded the implementation of this strategy as a major measure for opening up to a new stage. Based on the status quo of the distribution of foreign direct investment of Chinese enterprises, the article attempts to reveal the general characteristics and rules of them, hoping to find some enlightenment on the choice of enterprises’ investment location.
