Anna Karenina is one of the classic works by Russian writer Tolstoy. Anna is a noble and beautiful pure and friendly image of aristocratic women. She bravely pursues the life she wants, sacrifices everything for love, but ends up in tragedy. This article analyzes the causes of the tragedies in terms of social factors and the limitations of the image itself. I. Social Causes Anna Karenina was created in the 1870s. The novel portrays anxiety over the Russian social life and the human heart under the impact of capitalism. The capitalist economy has grown rapidly and the aristocracy has been declining.
