“文选型”是我国语文教材编撰的主要策略。王荣生在《语文教育展望》及《语文科课程论基础》中均提出对“文选型”语文教材的选文加以类型鉴别的观点,颇有独到的见解。他在对中外母语教材进行对比研究的基础上,从教材编撰的角度,将“文选型”语文教材的选文区别为作为课程内容的“定篇”和作为教材内容的“例文”、“样本”、“用件”四种类型,并对这四种选文类型的功能及功能发挥方式作了具体的阐释,不仅为语文教材编撰策略的多元化提供了理论依据,而且对语文教学实践也有多方面的现实指导意义。
