A survey of eyeglass consumers conducted last autumn in Korea noted that "the rate of eye exams to optical shops has risen to 62.4%, up 5.8% from 56.6% a year earlier. The survey is held annually, the seventh year last year. During the survey period from October 31, 1993 to November 23, the survey was conducted on the nation’s glasses population. Investigators from the Gallup Institute of Demography in South Korea have selected 3,000 households nationwide and conducted direct door-to-door visits. The respondents included 1480 males and 1520 females. In the 1992 survey, 29.7% of users of eyeglasses, 2.7% of users of eyeglasses and contact lenses, 1.0% of contact lens users and 66.5% of non-users.
