长江工人运动有着悠久的历史和传统,长江海员工会是全国最早的工会组织之一。1953年4月10日．经报请中国海员工会筹备委员会同意．在武汉召开长江海员第一次会员代表大会。正式成立了中国海员工会长江区委员会。1959年撤销长江区工会,建立中国海员工会长江航运局委员会。1965年,更名为中国海员工会长江航运公司委员会。“文化大革命”期间,长航工会的工作基本停顿。1973年,工会组织得以恢复。1979年11月,长江航运管理局工会召开第四次会员代表大会．标志着新时期长江工运事业的复苏和振兴。在全总和中国海员工会的关心支持下,长航工会对上对下的领导体制得以全面恢复。1984年,中国海员工会长江航务管理局委员会在改革的春风中诞生了,长江工运史掀开了新的一页。
The Yangtze River Workers’ Movement has a long history and tradition. The Yangtze Sea Seafarers Union is one of the earliest trade union organizations in the country. April 10, 1953.
