Taken from a sample of BHP Australia With the continuous improvement of the corrosion resistance requirements of galvanized steel wire and galvanized metal products, the demand for galvanized steel wire with thick coating in various industrialized countries has rapidly increased. The traditional process of producing thick-plated galvanized steel wire is oil-impregnated charcoal. Galvanizing speed of this process is low, and the product surface finish is poor. In order to improve productivity and product quality, the Australian BHP Metal Products Division (WPD) in the mid-60s successfully developed by gas injection method of thick coating galvanized steel wire. The method uses a mixture of gases to blow out the galvanized steel wire from the galvanizing tank to control the thickness of the coating and to smooth the surface of the coating so that the galvanizing speed is increased by 75% over the conventional process.
