According to statistics from Japan’s Ministry of Finance and Trade, the import volume of semiconductor components (excluding photosensitive semiconductor components) in Japan was 632 million in 1995, an increase of 43.3% over the previous year; the import value was 2.892 billion yen, an increase of 38.8% over the previous year. The main sources of imports include Taiwan Province of China, the United States, China (excluding Taiwan Province), Singapore and Thailand. Taiwan ranks first in terms of both volume and quantity. In 1995, the number of exports to Japan reached 620 million, an increase of 43.7% over the previous year, accounting for 98.1%; the export value reached 1.643 billion yen.
