云南之有孔庙,最早是在南诏时期。据载,贞观二十年(646年),南诏开山祖细奴罗“劝民间读汉儒书,行孝、弟、忠、信、礼、义、廉、耻之事。”(《白古通记浅述》)南诏第四代主盛罗皮也很崇敬孔子,“开元十四年,效唐建孔子庙。……入贡于唐,故知中华礼乐教化,尊祀孔子,爱尊父命而建文庙。”(同上)“农逻(细奴罗)死,伪谥高祖,孙晟(盛)罗皮立,建孔子庙于国中。”(同揆:《洱海丛谈》)和内地一样,孔庙既是祭孔的场所,也是传授儒家文化的地方,孔庙的建立,是南诏官办学校的开始。在南诏的文化教育中,郑回起了不可低估的作用。史载,“广德元年,主(指阁罗凤)
