插画作为一种艺术形式,在现代设计中最为突出的表现在视觉传达形式上。插画之所以在现代设计中占有举足轻重的地位,这完全离不开它美的感染力,真实的存在感和直观的形象性,它已广泛地运用到了设计的各个领域,其中包括文化活动、影视文化、广告媒体、社会公共事业、商业活动等方面。在当今的读图时代,传递信息的重要媒体形式已经由视觉文化取代语言文化进而成为了一种主流文化意识形态。现代插画作为重要的一种视觉形式而被应用于社会生活的各个领域。因此,现代插画的绘画风格也表现出了多样性。被大家熟知且经常运用的风格有:写实风格、抽象风格、时尚风格、装饰风格、奇幻风格、卡通风格和新锐风格。
