鲜于枢是元代最重要的书法家之一。元代僧人、诗人善住在其《谷响集》中对鲜于枢的书法成就评价颇高,认为是“千载不须叹寂寞,已留遗墨偏炎方。”①与善住和尚交游极为密切的学者、诗人虞集也把鲜于枢与赵孟頫并称:“敛风沙裘剑之豪,为湖山图史之乐;翰墨轶米薛而有余,风流拟晋宋而无作。是以吴兴公运画沙之锥,刻希世之玉,使千载之具眼,识二妙于遐邈”。②同辈友人赵孟頫十分推崇鲜于枢的书法,自谓“仆与伯机同学书,伯机过仆远甚,仆极力追之而不能及。”③明代陆深更是把鲜于枢放在了元代书法巨擘的地位
