三峡三期碾压混凝土围堰(简称RCC围堰)在三期上下游土石围堰保护下修建而成,与下游土石围堰联合保护右岸大坝,电站厂房及石岸非溢流坝段的施工,承担着挡水发电和通航的任务,其运行期为4年,即2003年至2007年。它是三峡工程二、三期施工衔接的关键性控制工程,也是三峡工程建设的技术难题之一,其成败直接影响三峡工程
